Trip to Siem Reap (Cambodia) - Day 1

And finally the day had arrived !
I was waiting for it for so many years as I had always wanted to visit Siem Reap (Cambodia) , but ended up visiting other destinations in Thailand,Malaysia and Indonesia.Even this time the kids favourite was HongKong , but since I was running away from one urban jungle and didn't wanted to venture into another , I somehow managed to turn around their views.

On 19th June 2016 , we took a 2 hour JetStar flight to Siem Reap. The flight was delayed by 30 mins and it was 3.30 pm local time when we landed at the Siem Reap airport. The immigration formalities we complete at 4 pm.I had applied for and received the Cambodian visa online , its quite simple and payment can be made via credit card. Please find the link here.

The first hotel to check in was the Rithy Rine Angkor Residence and we had a complimentary 'Tuk Tuk' pick up waiting for us at the airport.

It was a nice Tuk Tuk ride to Rithy Rine Angkor Residence.

Shortly after we reached at around 4.30 pm and checked in our room , it started raining heavily with heavy thundering and lightning.I presume they were pre-mansoon showers .Had to drop the initial plan was to go and buy the temple sight seeing passes and experience the sunset at Angkor Wat .After the rains stopped at around 6 pm we decided to explore the night market and the pub street area as out hotel was located right in middle to it!

Did a lot of window shopping at the night market ! Had our dinner of Indian veg-thali at an Indian restaurent named 'Maharaja. The food was good.

Returned back to the hotel hotel room at around 10 pm for a good night sleep.
