Trip to Langkawi - Part 2

Our second destination in Langkawi was Kuah.
Here we stayed at the 'Best Seven Inn' for 3 nights. The location of this motel is very convenient as the Eagle Square, Lagenda park , night market , street food , duty free shopping are all located at short distances from this place.

The first attraction we visited was the Langkawi Wildlife park. Din't find anything great about it , maybe because we visit the Singapore zoo too often!

That evening , went to the Eagle square. Some good photo ops here!

The same evening Kuah was hoisting its night market. One can try the local street food here.

The next day went on the half day 3 island hopping tour. This is a popular boat tour and everyone enjoyed it , especially the speed boat ride.

The 3 islands this tour covers are ...Beras basah island - The name literally means "Island of wet rice". This is a picture perfect island with far reaching views of the sea and wonderful soft white sands. It's a great place for the beach lovers and swimmers.

the second island is Pulau Singa Besar , here you get to watch a fantastic natural show - the Eagle Feeding. You can see numerous golden brown eagles swooping down from the sky and feeding on fish. You actually do not get off and remain seated at the boat while watching this spectacle.

The last island was Pulau Dayang Bunting or the Island of pregnant lady . A total of 1 hour is given to you to spend here. This includes 10 to 12 minutes one-way walk up the long flight of stairs to go up the mountain and down from the other side to reach the wonderful Lake of the Pregnant Woman, and same way back. So come prepared for this nice trek and carry water bottles.

The Kauh stay was memorable....especially the local Malay sea food !

Trip to Langkawi - Part 1

2017 was a very hectic year for me , and I badly needed a vacation to unwind...a beach vacation to be precise !

Since there were no plans of annual December trip to India , we were looking for atleast a 10 days vacation. Finally, we zeroed on Langkawi, Malaysia as our ideal beach destination!!

Booked return tickets on 'FlyScoot'(departure to Langkawi on 5th Dec and arrival in Singapore on 15th dec).

After taking a quick glance at the Langkawi map, realised that the most popular locations to stay there would be pantai Cenang , Kuah and pantai Tengah.(Note that pantai in Malay means beach).Since I was booking the hotels a little late i.e after 20th Nov, didn't had many options because of the peak December holiday season. So quickly booked 3 different hotels at these locations in the given sequence, and the 'Trip to Langkawi' blog series is accordingly divided into 3 parts.

Its an 1 hour and 15 mins flight to Langkawi from Singapore.Since I had no plans to rent a car which is a popular option with tourists in Langkawi , all commuting was done using local cabs(fixed rates) and mobile app Grab.I found both options quite reasonable , but Grab can be a bit cheaper.

Our first stay was in Malibest resort, Pantai Cenang. This resort is strategically located with Cenang beach on one side and a busy market street on other side.

On the first evening, went to the beach to witness a beautiful sunset, then later treated ourselves for dinner at a Turkish restaurant before returning to the resort via market street.

Sunset at Cenang beach

On the very next day visited the Langkawi cable car and skybridge. This was an awesome experience and a must visit for anyone who is in Langkawi.Click here for more details. The cable car ride starts from Oriental village which has many other activities .We opted for a combo ticket which also included visit to 3D art musuem, 6D show etc.

The 3D art museum is worth a visit! Do check the snaps below.

The cable car return trip was equally thrilling.

Malibest resort has a beach side pool with slides which was hit with kids!

The market street outside Malibest resort has lot of eating options ...restaurants as well as local street food....

Enjoying local street food

..but the cenang beach was my personal favourite!

An amazing click!

Clicked this one evening from Mt.Faber.
The tall building appears to be illuminated, but actually it's not!
It's natural sunlight reflected from the building's glasses.
