Bird singing contest in my neighbourhood

Bird singing corners or arenas are quite unique to Singapore where one can find hobbyists with their prized bird cages.These cages hang from their iron hooks and are made of finely carved ornate wooden furnishings, with some even having  blue jade bowls to contain water.

Occasionally they have bird singing contests where the birds are judged in categories such as singing ability, liveliness,  stamina and beauty.

Singapore National day around the corner !

Singapore's national day which falls on the 9th of August is around the corner.

And something very strange reminds us of it.Look at these pics I clicked from my house.

They are helicopters carrying the state flag, rehearsing for the National Day Parade(NDP) flypast.The are a major attraction of the NDP.
